Good Housekeeping Practices for your PCs

Keeping your Windows Operating System (OS) up-to-date and at optimum level is best practice. There are few ways to do this:

1.   Delete unwanted software from the Programs option in the Control Panel.

2.   Regularly run scans and checks with your active antivirus software.

3.   Use the Windows Disk Clean-Up application. (Do not download Disk Clean apps.)

4.   Defragment your hard drives monthly.

5.   Delete old drivers and ensure remaining drivers are current.

6.   Refresh the Startup list from Windows Task Manager and Startup tab and disable less important apps.

7.   Clean your AppData folder.

8.   Remove old program files.

9.   Clean the Registry.

10. Clean all caches.

How to Up-Spec my Hardware

It is always important to ensure you are getting the best out of the computer hardware. This will help the software you use to run your business to perform at its optimal level and not lag.  Some software drains more resources than others so if your hardware is not up to spec you will notice your software underperforming and your staff getting frustrated.

Here is an executable file (.exe) that you can run that will help you find the current specs for your PC. You can use the details to determine whether your hardware meets the specification requirements of the software you are running and whether you need to up-spec any computers. Attached is the video of how to use the software.
